According to a survey performed by the global consultancy firm Mercer regarding the twenty most expensive cities to live in, New Delhi topped the list from India at 85 followed by Mumbai at 95.

The survey covered 214 cities across 5 continents and did a comparative analysis of about 200 items on each location including transportation, food, clothing etc.

The survey was topped by Luanda followed by Tokyo, N’Djamena, Moscow, Geneva, Osaka, Zurich, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sao Paolo, Nagoya, Rio de Janeiro, Libreville, Sydney, Oslo, Bern, Copenhagen, London, Seoul and Beijing.

The survey was based on the cost of living as according to the US dollar. If the dollar weakens as according to the local currency of a city, that city becomes more expensive and moves up the index.
