India – Emerging destination for Retail Sector !



The World Retail Congress in Berlin had industry representatives from across the world discussing and deliberating on a variety of topics — efficient supply chain, sustainable business model and even digital. Also, on top of the agenda was expansion of retail footprint. Expansion not only in home and developed markets, but also in new markets like India.

India is on the other end of the spectrum of liberal markets for retailers. Furthermore, in any market, everyone’s excited about the entry but you have to think about ten years from then when the model you have might not work anymore.

 Despite challenges in the Indian market, there’s huge opportunity for global retailers. Many of the goods have an aspirational value for Indian consumers. So, even the franchisee route can be a very huge opportunity.
