
Reserve bank of India on Friday allowed stock exchanges to launch currency options on Indian rupee and US dollar, something that industry players say will complete the suite of available derivatives products and help customers to hedge their currency risks better and at the same time providing greater flexibility.
"It has now been decided to permit introduction of options on USD-INR spot rate on currency derivatives segment of stock exchanges. However eligible stock exchanges may do so after obtaining prior approval from Security Exchange Board of India.
