The BSE Sensex rose 1 percent in early trade on Wednesday to its highest level since February 2008, with ICICI Bank and Reliance Industries leading the gains, taking cues from strong Asian markets.
At 9:01 a.m. (0331 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was up 0.91 percent at 18,149.86 points, with all components advancing. It rose as high as 18,167.22.
The 50-share NSE index was up 0.8 percent at 5,444.30.
